The 14th
International Workshop of Advanced Manufacturing and Automation (IWAMA 2024) at
KUST
On October
11th, 2024, the 14th International Workshop on Advanced Manufacturing and
Automation (IWAMA 2024) is organized by the IWAMA Committee and hosted by
Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), The main objectives of the
workshop are
·
To strengthen the high-quality academic development of
the mechanical engineering disciplines at our university, promote relevant
research in advanced manufacturing and automation at both national and
international arenas
·
Facilitate academic knowledge and technical skills exchanges
in corresponding application fields
The workshop
was held in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical
Engineering at the university. Director of the International Cooperation Office
from KUST, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from
KMUST, scholars, experts, and relevant departmental heads from Tongji
University (TJU, China), Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES,
China), the University of Bedfordshire (UK), the Norwegian University of
Science and Technology (NTNU, Norway), University of Florence (UF, Italy),
University of Galway (UG, Ireland),
Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT, Australia) attended the opening
ceremony. Jing Na, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical
Engineering from Kunming University of Science and Technology, hosted the
opening ceremony.
Director Bin Zhang, from the International Cooperation Office of KUST, addressed his
most sincere greetings and welcomed to the guests on behalf of the university.
He pointed out that new scientific and technological concepts represented by
advanced manufacturing and automation have provided a new technical foundation
and industrial ecology for reshaping manufacturing services and are affecting
and changing the world at an unprecedented speed and way. Kunming University of Science and Technology,
integrating its disciplinary strengths and characteristics in mechanics,
control, information, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing,
has consistently regarded advanced manufacturing technology as a key focus for
its Double First-Class Discipline construction. The university undertakes the
mission of providing high-level talent cultivation, scientific research, and
social services to support the development of the advanced manufacturing
industry. This conference will present the latest research
results of advanced technologies in the fields of automation and robotics,
promote regional and international academic exchanges and cooperation, and
promote cross-development and innovation in different disciplines.
The chairman of the conference,
Professor Wang Yi from the University of Bedfordshire in UK, made a warm welcome
speech. He introduced the origin and philosophy of the International Workshop
on Advanced Manufacturing and Automation (IWAMA), focusing
on the fields of intelligent manufacturing, Industry 5.0 and intelligent
robots. He pointed out that in today's era, the application of advanced
manufacturing and automation technologies in their respective fields will face
new technological problems, and at the same time create unprecedented
opportunities for their own development. The purpose of this conference is to provide a professional interactive platform for
experts, scholars, researchers, and technical professionals from both domestic
and international research fields, to engage in academic exchanges, discuss
advanced technologies and applications in the fields of manufacturing and
automation, explore development trends, exchange ideas, and share academic
viewpoints.
