The 11th International workshop of Advanced Manufacturing and Automation (IWAMA2021)

    From 11.10.2021 to 12.10.2021, Plymouth University together with Henan Polytechnic have successfully organized 11th International Workshop on Advanced Manufacturing and Automation, (IWAMA2021) on Henan Polytechnic. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the conference took an online. Nearly 70 experts and scholars from the United Kingdom, Norway, Russia, South Africa, India, Ethiopia, China and some other countries in the world participated in the two-days online meeting they made valuable presentation and discussion on the frontiers and innovations in the field of advanced manufacturing and automation. The online meeting was presented by Prof. Long Xiao, vice president of Henan Polytechnic, and Prof. Letang Mei, president of Henan polytechnic, and related teachers of the college of Intelligent Manufacturing of HP were also present.

    First of all, Mr. Wang Yi, Associate Prof. of Plymouth University, UK, General Chairman of the IWAMA 2021, delivered an opening speech. On behalf of the IWAMA International Organizing Committee, he expressed sincere gratitude to the experts and scholars who have actively participated in IWAMA conference over the years and to Henan Polytechnic for organizing the online IWAMA2021. He also gave an in-depth introduction to the new development and new trends of the intelligent manufacturing in the world and wished the conference successful. Prof. Letang Mei, president of Henan polytechnic, made a welcome speech. Subsequently, Mr. Yu Tao, Professor of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Chairman of the IWAMA, reviewed the history of IWAMA conference and wished the conference better and better. The IWAMA conference, started in 2011, has been successfully held 11 times so far. Now it is held every year in universities and research institutes around the world. As an annual event, the theme of the conference is to discuss new thinking and new trends in the field of advanced manufacturing and automation.

    This conference adopts the form of expert keynote presentation, special session discusses, and innovation achievement exhibition. 8 well-known experts made keynote presentation to exchange and share the latest research results in the meeting. Two sessions are on industry 4.0 and manufacturing systems. The conference has collected more than 100 papers. Among them, 21 authors gave speeches on the two sessions on Industry 4.0 and manufacturing systems. Other papers are presented in the postal session. All papers accepted and presented in the conference will be published as a Lecturer Notes by Springer.

    Finally, Associate Prof. Wang Yi, Chairman of the IWAMA 2021, and Prof. Long Xiao, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the conference, jointly made concluding remarks and announced that 12th International workshop of Advanced Manufacturing and Automation will be held at Jimei University, Xiamen, China, in 2022.
